School Year Ends Early for 'Boston Public' While most shows typically complete 22 episodes per season, FOX has halted production on "Boston Public," which was in the middle of shooting its 15th episode this past week.David E. Kelley's drama, which centers around the lives of students and faculty at a high school, is currently in its fourth season. Many suspected it would be the show's last since FOX had originally only ordered 13 episodes before tacking on an additional two.Much like Kelley's ABC show, "The Practice," "Boston Public" has had a revolving door when it comes to actors, losing Jessalyn Gilsig and Rashida Jones after its sophomore year, as well as Jon Abrahams, Cara Delizia, Joey McIntyre and China Shaver's departure following its junior season.Kelley hasn't had a very good couple of years, with FOX cancelling "girls club" in 2002 almost immediately out of the gate, the serious retooling of ABC's "The Practice" and CBS' cancellation of "The Brotherhood of Poland, N.H."However, Kelley is already at work on a pilot for ABC about three young sisters who work at a Long Island wedding palace. The midseason drama "Wonderfalls" will fill "Boston Public's" 9 p.m. ET time slot as of Friday, March 12.
